You’re reading the Best Business Blog in SA

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – we work with brands we love and with people who have passion for what they do. Everything we do is for the love of it. Not for rewards. Not for awards.

Although – if an award does happen to come our way as a result of doing what we love, heck, we’ll embrace it!

The winners of the 2015 SA Blog Awards were announced last night (1 February 2016) and team CN&CO are VERY chuffed to have bagged Best Business Blog. This is our first SA Blog Award, and considering we’ve only been around since August 2015, it’s not a bad start.

The SA Blog Awards is the official showcase and recognition platform for the very best of South African blogs, with the aim of bringing South African bloggers to the forefront of peoples’ attention, both locally and internationally. The awards also aim to encourage people who are outside the realm of blogging to start their own blogs and discover the fantastic world of blogging.

The CN&CO team is made up of nine individuals, each with unique skill sets and varying passions and interests. It is this diversity that plays a big role in the type of content you’ll find on our blog, to which each team member contribute.

Another major factor influencing the content on our blog is the fact that CN&CO is a lifestyle businessa business set up and run by its founders primarily to sustain a particular level of income and no more; or to provide a foundation from which to enjoy a particular lifestyle.

Not too long ago chief señor Carel chatted to Gareth Armstrong and Hlubi Mboya on CliffCentral and Poppy on 5FM about the lifestyle business and CN&CO’s philosophy around this business model.

In line with our lifestyle business approach, our team is encouraged to take time off to travel and explore the world (without being bogged down by limited leave days) and return with fresh perspectives of how business and branding are done across the globe – which makes for cool travel and lifestyle related business content for blog posts. Take Carel’s blog about Lebanon and Bhutan or Gabbi’s blog about Dubai for instance. All are travel related, while at the same time containing interesting content tying to business.

We also blog about the cool projects we’re working on (the latest being our Ink Link project and the launch of Simplifyd in SA), interesting ideas and information from our clients (like this Lightstone article comparing Monopoly property values over the years) and this piece of media coverage we secured for MUA about airbnb and the insurance implications for homeowners.

These are but a handful of examples in the sea of content we cover on the blog. With such a broad and diverse range of clients and partners, we most definitely aren’t short of ideas and content for blog posts.

Now, back to the awards.

The SA Blog Awards has evolved through a process of public opinion, blogger and social media experts’ opinion, and judges’ votes. The public participation process is one of the most important measures of the awards. Since 2011 the public and the bloggers have been encouraged to participate in this research.

Since news of our SA Blog Awards was released, it seems we aren’t the only ones excited about it. Clodagh Da Paixao, Head of Brand at The Fulcrum Group, sent us this congratulatory message:

“We’re really proud of our business partners and friends at CN&CO for winning the 2015 Best Business Blog award – an even-more excellent achievement considering they haven’t even celebrated their first year anniversary yet! A lot of the CN&CO blogs feature Fulcrum activities or people, which is a brilliant way to leverage our relationship.”

BIG thanks to all of our clients and friends who read our blog posts and support what we do, as well as to the SA Blog Awards and everyone who voted for our blog. Here’s to many more blog posts that make for great reading 🙂
