CN&CO has taken our client Purple Group to the airwaves this week in a big way! Purple CEO Charles Savage did a podcast interview withSimon Brown on the differences between a traditional stockbroker and a financial services provider (FSP) when it comes to investment.
Essentially, all stock trades are done through a registered stockbroker. Where the investor deals with an FSP, like a bank or insurance company, the FSP has a partnership with a stockbroker, who executes the trade on the JSE. EasyEquities is an example of an FSP as it doesn’t place trades directly, but rather through a registered stock broker.
“Through these partnerships the consumer has the same protections when dealing with an FSP and a registered stockbroker,” explains Charles. “However, FSPs have the capacity to be more client-focused and can also work out to be more cost-effective.”
Charles and Simon also discuss the issue of share ownership in the interview, and shares info on EasyEquities’ recently launched stock baskets.
Charles has also been putting in some serious airtime on 5FM. This morning he was on the Fresh@5 show with DJ Fresh, after an appearance on the same show with Rob Forbes last week.
“Radio and podcasts are still very strong on the media landscape, even though they’re considered to be ‘old school’ in certain quarters,” says CN&CO PR aficionado Gabbi Rego. “While digital is massive and growing, and print is waning (but still effective), radio is a great place to be, especially during the morning and afternoon commutes.
“Think about it – what do you do while you’re in the car on the way home or to work? Ask most people and they’ll reply, ‘Listen to the radio’.”
Charles’s Classic FM interview in 2015 with Tamara LePine-Williams still holds the record as the most successful sales drive for EasyEquities – more accounts were opened after that interview than after any other campaign to date.
