Watch ‘Romeo and Juliet’ with us this Saturday on Marquee TV

There’s a new streaming service in town that’s bound to appeal to lovers of Shakespeare, and the performing arts in general. Marquee TV boasts an impressive catalogue of some of the world’s best performances in theatre, opera, contemporary dance and ballet.

CN&CO is the local PR partner for the streaming service and we’ve been loving watching some of the fabulous content on Marquee TV over the past few weeks. (Keep an eye out for some media appearances in the very near future!)

The Marquee TV collection is expanded weekly with two or three new releases, including Saturday Premieres. This Saturday it’s something extra-special: a contemporary performance of the much-loved Romeo and Juliet by the Royal Shakespeare Company.

South Africans are invited to watch the premiere together at 8pm on Saturday, 9 May, from the comfort of their living rooms. The invitation is open to anyone to join in the “watch-along”. Simply sign in or sign up at www.marquee.tv. New subscribers qualify for a 14-day, no obligation trial, plus a 30% discount on the annual subscription rate.

Saturday’s premiere promises an “explosion of intense passion”, with director Erica Whyman bringing “a fresh sense of youthfulness, with modern street talk and attitude, gender flips and a rock band.”

Shakespeare fans can tune in just before 8pm on Saturday and share their comments on social media as they watch, using the hashtag #MarqueeWatchAlong.

Also follow @MarqueeArtsTV for more information on current and forthcoming productions.

If you want to know even more… the Royal Shakespeare Company has posted an article about the premiere here.
