Viviene Pearson appointed to IISA board

Massive congratulations to SAIA CEO Viviene Pearson, who has been appointed to the board of the Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA). The announcement was made this morning in a communication from the IISA, which reads:

The Insurance Institute of South Africa welcomes the recent appointment of Viviene Pearson to the Board. We look forward to Viviene contributing to the success of the IISA through her industry knowledge, experience and networks.
 
Viviene has been the Chief Executive Officer of the South African Insurance Association (SAIA) since January 2016. She joined the SAIA in 2004 as the Image and Reputation Manager and has held several positions in the organisation, including that of Motor Manager and General Manager for Projects and Insurance Risks, respectively.

Viviene was also responsible for several industry initiatives at the SAIA, including micro-insurance and consumer education, as well as various projects in motor insurance. She was also involved in the establishment of the South African Insurance Crime Bureau (SAICB).
 
Prior to joining the SAIA, Viviene was a financial journalist specialising in the insurance field. She began her career in the Diplomatic Corps in 1983 after obtaining a BA Honours Degree in Political Science and Journalism at the former Rand Afrikaanse Universiteit (RAU). She currently serves on the boards of the SAIA, IISA and Financial Sector Charter Council (FSC).

Viviene is an avid reader and occasionally enjoys head-banging with her two sons.
