Vive la France! Especially her films …

MyFrenchFilmFestival.com bills itself as “an innovative concept with the goal of shining a spotlight on a new generation of French-language filmmakers. Online users across the globe are given the chance to develop their enthusiasm for French cinema.”

Now in its twelfth year, the 2022 edition once again solidifies the cultural soft-power of France across the globe and is not to be missed.

Having read about the festival in the Business Day via my go-to arts correspondent and all-round cool culture guy, Chris Thurman, I registered (a quick, free process) and have been enjoying dipping into les films tr`es interessants!

All of the short films are free of charge in all countries. Every year, the festival offers free viewing in certain countries. This year, films are free in : Latin America, Russia, South-East Asia, Poland, Romania, Africa and South Korea. For other countries there is a viewing fee for one feature film of €1.99 or you can buy a festival pack for €7.99 for access to all films.

Viewers can vote for the favourite films (10 shorts and 10 feature films are in the running for prizes) while the lineup also offers an out-of-competition programme that includes a Swiss feature film and short film, a Canadian feature film and short film, a program for young audiences, a VR section, and a selection of French cinema classics.
