Happy #TravelTuesday! If you didn’t know that it is a thing, now you know. #TravelTuesday is a fun international hashtag to celebrate all things travel. People share travel tips and photos of their travels. In that same spirit, we are sharing some travel inspiration with you courtesy of our partner Club Med.
You deserve a holiday. You can take a holiday with your family, your partner, or yourself. We all like to holiday differently: some of us like to veg out on a tropical beach while others of us want to explore new terrain…or a combination of these two and everything in between.
Travel inspo: the new Summer Mountain offering
Club Med has released a new offering to the South African market: it’s called Summer Mountain. The concept is pretty simple; the holiday promises an epic time. If you take up Club Med’s Summer Mountain offering you get to explore the French Alps…in summer. So just as the South African winter gets a little too chilly for you, you can head to France some sunshine, hiking, mountain biking, climbing, poolside chilling, and more.
Visit the Club Med Summer Mountain website for more information. Club Med will be hosting a “South Africa week” beginning 18 August 2019 at its Grand Massif Samoëns Morillon village (i.e. resort) in France. During this time there will be some extra care taken to make South Africans, in particular, feel even more welcome like the presence of more English-speaking GOs (Club Med staff).
Travel tips: planning your honeymoon (sun or snow)
The stereotype is that all honeymooners want is a beautiful beach to relax at after a hectic time planning the wedding and getting married. While this is true for some honeymooners, it’s also true that other honeymooners would love a winter (or snow) honeymoon. Both types of honeymooners can plan the most epic honeymoon at a Club Med village. Whether you want a honeymoon that is in the sun or snow; relaxed or active; or nearby or further afield, Club Med has you covered.
This blog highlights some epic sun destinations including (SA-favourite) Mauritius, Turkey, and the Dominican Republic. Most of us know why Mauritius would be an ideal sun honeymoon destination but what about the other two? Well, in Turkey you can sample delicious food and coffee, and explore some incredible UNESCO World Heritage Sites; and in the Dominican Republic you can swim in waters adjacent white sandy beaches, play golf, scuba dive, and learn acrobatics at the Creative Playground, designed by Cirque Du Soleil. Sun honeymoon for two, anyone?
For the snow honeymoon seekers, this blog highlights epic snow destinations including France, Switzerland, and Italy. While Club Med Valmorel is a popular resort for South Africans, you can choose from over 10 Club Med villages in the French Alps. Learn to ski and maybe a bit of French. You’ll also get to enjoy divine French food.
For those wanting a snow honeymoon and great Italy food, Club Med is still the place to be. Can you see yourselves staying in private chalets, sipping on Italian wine, and eating delicious home-made pasta? The sweet-lovers can head to the home of Lindt for a snow honeymoon: Switzerland. Yes, it can be quite cold but you’ll fall in love with the mountains, Swiss culture, and all you can explore in Switzerland.
Private villa, anyone?
For those who love the more luxurious style of holiday, you absolutely must try a holiday in a villa with Club Med. You can get yourselves into a private, overwater villa in the Maldives or a private villa (complete with your own pool) in Mauritius. And that’s just the beginning! Think private chefs, private access to your “own” section of the ocean, and outdoor shower, golfing, and more.
In the Maldives you have the option of a beach villa if the overwater villa isn’t for you.
