The Purple Group powering Born2Run for Comrades

In 10 days, 15 hours and 3 minutes  the starting gun will sound and the iconic Comrades Marathon will begin. The 12 hours that follow will see 20 000 runners  attempt to finish the grueling 89.9 km road race, starting in Pietermaritzburg and ending in Durban on May 29th. Among
those 20 000 will be roughly 100 brave souls from the awesome running group that is Born2Run Athletics Club, not to mention Carel Nolte who has raised over R120 000.00 for the Pink Drive.

Ann B2R

Ann Ashworth of B2R

Founded three years ago by David and Ann Ashworth, the club has grown quickly in size and quality of runners. The weekly time trial hosted at St Stithians sees a wide variety of runners line up and benefit from the Ashworths combined passion and experience. There is an Elite group of runners, coached by the founders of the club with the ladies doing particularly well on the running scene. This year’s race will see roughly 10 Elites attempt to dominate the medals as well as some of the club’s Development Athletes getting a chance to test their mettle.

This year there will be two seconding stations proudly sponsored by the Purple Group. While it is convenient that the company and club both share a core colour (purple that is, in case you haven’t picked it up), Purple Group is committed to helping people and organisations who are truly passionate about what they do. The Ashworths and the B2R community exemplify that passion. Club gazebos will be located at the 30 km and 60 km route, supplying the B2R runners with their specified race packs such as a change of clothes, unique energy drink or extra vaseline. (Chafe is a real thing over 89 kms).

Please feel free to join supporting the Club runners at these designated seconding spots and add to the spirit of the day. For any further questions about the day drop Rob Christian a message on twitter.
