The Company We Keep: Kyle Grant

The Company We Keep is a column on the CN&CO blog that profiles some of the most interesting people in our networks. Here we share the details of the lives of people we know, showcasing the extraordinary diversity of our society and proving that people truly are at the heart of everything we do. This month’s instalment is by CN&CO’s Events Guru Rikus Kok, who has decided to tell us about his very talented and good friend Kyle Grant.

Rikus and Kyle then and Now..

I had just finished my internship at Media 24 and decided I would go practice musical theatre, which was what I had studied at TUT. Soon after auditioning for a few shows I got the opportunity to perform in the Seychelles in a variety of different musicals and commercial shows. During these shows I met, Kyle, of the most talented vocalists ever! We were both performing at Arabian Prins at the time.

Kyle grew up in Alberton. The “dirty” South of Joburg as he calls it. He studied vocals at Allenby Campus with RJ Benjamin. Kyle has played lead roles in many SA premiere productions including Hairspray, Chess, and Sunset Boulevard. He has also performed in international touring productions like Dirty Dancing and High School Musical.

Kyle has many talents and he is a member of the popular Arikaans singing group ADAM. He has been friends with Hugo Ludik (Member of ADAM) since working together at Alberton Boma shows in 2010. Kyle was supposed to join the group from the start but he was busy with an Asian tour at the time and only joined in 2013.

His beautiful wife Elizca is also an amazing performer and has featured in many shows and musicals. Elizca is currently on a tour in South Africa as part of a show called “Las Vegas Icons”

Elizca and Kyle

Our CN&CO network has strong ties to St Stithians College, as does Kyle who is a vocal and performance coach at Saints. He met some of the music teachers during the Grey College Music Festival and was recommended to the head of department by several industry acquaintances.

Kyle has just recorded a festive solo single and he will be doing many more solo projects in the new year.

I just love how people are connected in so many ways. Meeting Kyle in Seychelles. To Elizca’s mother, Elsa who was my pianist in university. To my family and Kyle’s family having a lovely holiday together in Plett. To how I started working with Saints through Carel and now Kyle works there too.

Kyle and Elizca we look forward to following both of your careers.
