The Company We Keep: Kickbox Streetwear

The Company We Keep is a column on the CN&CO blog that profiles some of the most interesting people in our networks. Here we share the details of the lives of people we know, showcasing the extraordinary diversity of our society and proving that people truly are at the heart of everything we do.

And they really are! None the more so than my good friend, Sipho and his wonderful wife, Boipelo.

Financial gurus (who each work for renowned financial businesses), hard working professionals, fashionistas, food lovers and best of all, sneaker heads (like myself)!

Sipho and Boipelo are in fact one of the main reasons for my sneaker passion.

The Waverunner Encounter

It was a pair of Adidas Yeezy 700 Waverunners, now a rare sneaker in the market that led me to meeting Sipho. A brilliant instagram page, a quick online transaction and the best delivery service I have ever received.

When Sipho first came to deliver a pair of sneakers to me, it was a conversation that began a good friendship that has now spanned into many chats, business insights and growth, Thursday night games of soccer and breaking bread with our better halves.

It’s for this reason I wanted to share Sipho and Pelo’s story and passion. How they turned this into a thriving business together, helping to spread good energy, ideas and sneaker love!

KickBox Streetwear

Sipho and Pelo are the owners and operators of KickBox Streetwear. A Johannesburg based online sneaker and streetwear store. A platform for sneaker enthusiasts to buy, sell and consign some of the most sought after high-end sneakers and streetwear from world renowned brands such as Nike, Adidas, Air Jordan, and Converse.

Hard work and passion

The more I get to know Sipho, the more I appreciate the passion he puts into his business and most importantly, the way he goes about it.

For him, bringing accessibility to hyped and rare sneakers is a happiness generator. If you are into sneakers, you will know that for the most part, it’s a struggle to get hold of the pairs you want on release. Limited quantities, the luck of raffle draw are some of the reasons behind these shoes selling out fast!

That’s where Sipho and Pelo step in. KickBox was established to create more accessibility to the sneaker resale market for sneaker and streetwear enthusiasts who are keen to own items but may not be able to afford due to the exorbitant prices charged by other resellers.

By sourcing and selling these sneakers, they create the access for many seekers to find the pair they are looking for. They do it by guaranteeing efficient and fast delivery, 100% authentic and verified pairs and even sharing their knowledge behind the countless stories of each release.

A sneaker-footprint

With over 16K followers on instagram and an easy to use website that gets thousands of hits a month, KBSW has made a mark in the South African sneaker arena.

And it doesn’t stop there… the power couple have plans to continue building their customer base, expand their product range, embark into international waters and may even open their very own store.

Whatever they do or go. I count myself lucky to know these two exceptional South Africans. Showing how important it is to make the most of your life, working hard, and as a power team!

Gianluca brings a touch of Italian flair to everything he does. His eye for detail, superior organisational skills and rare ability to nag relentlessly (in the nicest possible way) help to keep the team on track and on target. Say good things to him about Juventus and you’ll have a friend for life.
