TED Tuesday #6 – Amy Cuddy: Your body language shapes who you are

If you haven’t heard of TED the organisation, perhaps you have seen or heard a TED Talk? As the mission statement on the website reads:

“TED is a global community, welcoming people from every discipline and culture who seek a deeper understanding of the world. We believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and, ultimately, the world. On TED.com, we’re building a clearinghouse of free knowledge from the world’s most inspired thinkers — and a community of curious souls to engage with ideas and each other, both online and at TED and TEDx events around the world, all year long.”

This week’s talk features Amy Cuddy, a social psychologist who shows how “power posing” — standing in a posture of confidence, even when we don’t feel confident — can affect testosterone and cortisol levels in the brain, and might even have an impact on our chances for success.
