TED Talk Tuesday #71 – From a township to TED Talk global stage in New York

Watching TED Talks is a popular pastime at CN&CO. We visit TED.com regularly to clear our heads, have a laugh or get inspired. TED Talks open our minds, spark new ways of thinking and can lead to some very interesting conversations. Each week we pick a favourite and publish it on a Tuesday, because we like how “TED Talk Tuesday” sounds. This week’s talk was posted by Blake. Here’s why he chose it:

I recently had the opportunity to share my thoughts about volunteerism at a SAVE Foundation workshop in Dunoon, a township known for violence and crime just outside of Cape Town. Instead of leaving this community feeling sad and helpless, I left feeling inspired and hopeful.

My highlight was meeting two of the three young girls who have been invited to share their stories on the TED global stage in New York.

Take a look at how TED-ED has changed the lives of a few children in Dunoon.

They are busy raising funds to make this dream come true, you can support them HERE.

Blake brings a lot of energy, passion and heart into everything he does. He is extremely passionate about our country, it’s people and the environment. He is based in Cape Town and is happiest when he is running around exploring the beauty of the mountains.
