TED Talk Tuesday #187: A journey through the mind of an artist

Watching TED Talks is a popular pastime at CN&CO. We visit TED.com regularly to clear our heads, have a laugh or get inspired. TED Talks open our minds, spark new ways of thinking and can lead to some very interesting conversations. Each week we pick a favourite and publish it on a Tuesday, because we like how “TED Talk Tuesday” sounds. It’s also a way that the CN&CO team play their part on spreading ideas and helping to make the world a better place. This week’s talk is posted by Joshua Nuttall. Here’s why he chose it:

Exploring the creative economy stretches my mind and asks me to look at things through different lenses. I have been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to be exposed to some incredible projects over the last couple of years. We can all learn from looking at things differently and appreciating the energy that diversity offers.

This talk by Dustin Yellin A journey through the mind of an artist is phenomenal. I encourage you to go and look at some of the work he has produced through the years, combining abstract ideas and delivering pieces that take you into a timeless world.

“Redefine your insides and the box that you are living in”, to challenge the delusion of difference…

“We are all really made up of the same stuff in the same box”

Dustin Yellin makes mesmerizing artwork that tells complex, myth-inspired stories. How did he develop his style? In this disarming talk, he shares the journey of an artist — starting from age 8 — and his idiosyncratic way of thinking and seeing. Follow the path that leads him up to his latest major work (or two).

Dustin’s work with Pioneer Works is also something that is inspiring and showcases how you can combine seemingly unrelated things to bring something special into the world. This model and way of thinking is something that I strongly support, over the coming years I think that we will see far more collaboration between different industries and multi-use of spaces.
