TED Talk Tuesday #177 – Overcome anxiety in seven minutes |

Watching TED Talks is a popular pastime at CN&CO. We visit TED.com regularly to clear our heads, have a laugh or get inspired. TED Talks open our minds, spark new ways of thinking and can lead to some very interesting conversations. Each week we pick a favourite and publish it on a Tuesday, because we like how “TED Talk Tuesday” sounds. It’s also a way that the CN&CO team play their part on spreading ideas and helping to make the world a better place. This week’s talk is posted by Kurt Solomon. Here’s why he chose it:

Crazy times we are currently living in, learning from and trying to overcome. Some handling it better than others. Stress, depression, and the word I have often heard in my work, family, and friendship circles (and often felt in the last three months) is Anxiety.

So, I decided to search for talks from TED on the matter. There are a lot.

“Psychotherapist and author Mel Schwartz shares his perspective on both the cause and the solution to this mass disquiet. He proposes that anxiety is often due to our relationship with our thoughts. These are thoughts that are perpetually seeking certainty. The more we try to know the future – which is of course unknowable – the more fearful and anxious we feel.”

For those that are also feeling anxious, give the video a watch. I hope this talk, and the tips Mel shares help.
