Ted Talk Tuesday #102: When ideas have sex

Watching TED Talks is a popular pastime at CN&CO. We visit TED.com regularly to clear our heads, have a laugh or get inspired. TED Talks open our minds, spark new ways of thinking and can lead to some very interesting conversations. Each week we pick a favourite and publish it on a Tuesday, because we like how “TED Talk Tuesday” sounds. This week’s talk was selected by Gianluca Tucci. Here’s why he chose it:

Wired magazine columnist, Matt Ridley, gave one of the most interesting (and exciting) TED talks at TEDGlobal 2010 in Oxford, titled: “When ideas have sex”.

In short, it’s about us humans, about our connections through the years, our collaboration, our ability (and need) to communicate and make things happen by sharing and trying.

As human beings, we have achieved extraordinary things in life, amongst the challenges and issues we face, we need to keep evolving and connecting.

Our connections remain vital. The relationships we form, the ability to broaden our networks and engage with others to share and develop will allow us to overcome hurdles and prosper. No matter how different we are, there is a special message in making it a priority to learn new things and discover new people.

Here’s the talk below, enjoy!

Gianluca brings a touch of Italian flair to everything he does. His eye for detail, superior organisational skills and rare ability to nag relentlessly (in the nicest possible way) help to keep the team on track and on target. Say good things to him about Juventus and you’ll have a friend for life.
