Watching TED Talks is a popular pastime at CN&CO. We visit TED.com regularly to clear our heads, have a laugh or get inspired. TED Talks open our minds, spark new ways of thinking and can lead to some very interesting conversations. Each week we pick a favourite and publish it on a Tuesday, because we like how “TED Talk Tuesday” sounds.
This week’s talk was selected by Gianluca Tucci. Here’s why he chose it:
For those of you who don’t know of Tim Ferriss – he is a early-stage tech investor, author (one his books Tools of Titans is an absolute must if you haven’t read it) and podcaster. Most notably known for his brilliant interviews of people around the world – unpacking ways to help you learn, do and live.
In this talk Tim unpacks facing your fears, encouraging you to understand and note your fears through a simple but impactful way that he refers to as “fear-setting.”
One of the main takeouts for me was to focus more on the situations that are in your control instead of those that aren’t. There is very little that can’t be achieved by approaching the tasks or situations that often you spend avoiding by taking time to understand them, learning and then trying.
