SA choir awarded top honours in Europe

Our friends at the Ndlovu Youth Choir have had a phenomenal year so far. They recently returned from a trip to Europe when they performed in both Holland and Germany. The choir’s energy is seriously infectious and it’s awesome to see how the voices of the choir are bringing smiles to people’s faces around the globe.

We are ecstatic to share with you that the choir received another accolade while overseas. They were awarded the African Music Award at Europe’s most prominent African Music Festival in Germany. This prestigious award is for musicians or musical groups who have made a positive impact on society and changed lives through music.

They are in esteemed company as previous winners of the award include African music legends Miriam Makeba, Youssou N’Dour and Hugh Masekela.

Following the awards evening they performed to thousands of people who packed the Africa Festival Arena in Wurtzburg, Germany. Ralf Schmitt the choir’s director says, “The audience was terrific and lifted the roof from the very first note to the last (4th encore).”

We are extremely proud of the whole choir and the work they are doing to grow their small community from Moutse, a small rural town, in the Sekhukhune district of Limpopo. Thank you to everyone who has helped us tell their story so far, we can’t wait to see what the rest of the year has in store.

If you would like to book the choir please contact Ralf Schmitt via email (hello@ndlovu.com). They also perform internationally, for further details please visit their website here.
