Pushing oneself to reach your full potential in fitness or financial health is something the Emperor team is well known for. Often, this is easier when someone else is giving us that extra motivation to do better. Fortunately, one of South Africa’s top performing trail runners (and Otter Trail run winners, Christiaan and Landie Greyling, have put together specialised Trail Running plans catered to any beginner or professional planning on taking part in the Otter Trail Run.

The Otter Trail Run is a 42km trail run with over 2 400m of elevation. It takes place over two days, one day of prologue and a second of racing. There are two types of Otter Runs, the Challenge and the Race.

The Challenge has an 11-hour cut-off time, and the Race has a 9-hour cut-off time. Both taking the same route, only differencing in cut-off times. Every year the run switches direction from East to West (the Classic) to West to East (the Rhetto). This year the race begins in Storms River (East) and ends in Nature’s Valley (West) making it a Classic Otter Trail Run Route.

This month’s newsletter talks about the Otter Trail Run Training Plan by Christiaan and Landie Greyling, amongst a ton of other useful tips and race day info.
