Plantronics has recently linked up with Ashleigh Buhai, a prominent influencer and champion professional golfer recognised for her stellar talent locally and internationally. Ashleigh turned professional in May 2007. She campaigns on the Ladies Professional Golfers Association (LPGA) in the US. With close to 130 tournaments behind her name, Ashleigh has won three Ladies’ European Tours, and has finished in the top 10 in 26 tournaments. Ashleigh recently wrote her name in the record books of the Investec South African Women’s Open thanks to a two-stroke victory at Westlake Golf Club in Cape Town. She is the only professional to have won the national championship twice, a dream she’s had since she joined the pro ranks in 2007. Ashleigh has also won the Sunshine Ladies Tour – the Ladies Tshwane Open at the Els Club Copperleaf, a successive two times, as well as the ISPS Handa Portugal Ladies Open in Lisbon (2011).
When interviewed by the Ladies’ European Tour (2018), Ashleigh had the following to say:
“I’m absolutely ecstatic. I knew I had to play really well today and that’s what I did. I just felt really focused the whole day and hit all the shots I needed to and holed a few good putts.”
“No matter what country you’re from, you want to lift your national title. Having won it twice as an amateur was a bit crazy, because the first time I won it I was 14. The older you get, the more you realise what it means to you and to finally win it as a professional, I’m very chuffed.”
Whether travelling or on the golf course, Ashleigh has her Plantronics #BackBeatFITS close at hand. Her headsets have accompanied her on her journeys to Thailand and Singapore that Ashleigh describes as being “made much easier and quieter” thanks to her Plantronics noise-cancelling headsets. She has even been plugged in during early morning practices in Singapore.
If not on the golf course, Ashleigh is happily (and fairly newly) married to her husband David, who was previously her bagman on the course. An ordinary day on the course turned into a marital proposal on the 18th hole of the Dubai Open at the Emirates Golf Club, and will certainly be a tour she will never forget.
