This is what we mean by lifestyle business

When I joined CN&CO in October I imagined that the whole lifestyle business vibe would be chilled and relaxed. The impression you get from the outside is that everyone’s always on holiday and having a jol. Imagine my surprise, then, when I discovered that it’s not like that at all. I have been working harder than ever – and I’m loving it! What’s great and different about the lifestyle side of the business is that you don’t have to be in the office at a certain time. You just have to do amazing stuff and deliver. This suits me down to the ground, as I can sleep up on Table Mountain, hike down in the morning, go home and have a shower and then get started with my day. It’s brilliant.

A small taste of the 2017 Scuderia Ferrari calendar

So it’s been a busy first couple of months for me, filled with exciting launches, year-end functions and mountain adventures.

At the beginning of November, Hollard launched its new environmental insurance offering in Cape Town at the Cellars-Hohenort Hotel. CN&CO is involved in marketing the enviro product through our association with ITOO, a new insurance brand that will be entering the market via the Hollard stable in early 2017. Cape Town was also one of the stops on the Purple Group’s Annual Report Road Show. The Cape Town south easter was at its best, but this didn’t stop CEO Charles Savage from exciting the analysts and journalists with his vision for the future. Talk about disruption and making saving possible for anyone! View Purple Group’s financials.

I left Cape Town’s beautiful weather to head to Joburg where I witnessed one of the craziest storms I have ever seen! Fortunately I made it off the highway in one piece to join Pablo Clark Racing for the launch of the Raupp 2017 Ferrari Calendar. This was a great event, surrounded by beautiful cars, where I got to meet Ferrari collectors and was reminded about my incredible trip to Maranello, the home of Ferrari in Italy. There are still loads of sponsorship opportunities available for the Pablo Clark Racing team. On of our clients, GT247, is a sponsor and has reported great returns from the sponsorship, which draws parallels between trading and racing (knowing when to go fast, go slow, take the gap, etc.)

My first week in Joburg ended off with the Purple Group year-end function. It’s hard to put this night into words but I feel honoured to call team Purple clients and friends. We celebrated some amazing achievements and danced the night away to Me & Mr Brown.

The party was so good I almost missed my flight home… but luckily I made it back in time to join the EasyEquities team at the launch of  #INVEST by Gareth Cliff from CliffCentral and Anthea Gardner from Cartesian Capital. This is going to change the face of investing, they call it “uberising investments”.

I have also been doing some great work with SA’s national rowing squad, particularly with silver medallists Lawrence Brittain and Shaun Keeling. The guys have been giving inspirational talks all around the country at corporates and schools. We are seriously living in exciting times.

So for anyone who thinks a lifestyle business is a big snooze, think again! CN&CO is on the go, energised and getting things done from coast to coast.

Blake brings a lot of energy, passion and heart into everything he does. He is extremely passionate about our country, it’s people and the environment. He is based in Cape Town and is happiest when he is running around exploring the beauty of the mountains.
