At CN&CO we are a diverse bunch of individuals, we all come from different backgrounds, we were born in different locations and we each have our own story to tell.  One thing we all have in common though; we are proudly South African and we all want to make a difference, big or small!

Since we take what we do seriously and not ourselves, I wanted to have a bit of fun while learning more about my team (some learnt about themselves) and asked them to send me a baby pic with some accompanying stories. It was super fun and interesting putting this post together with all that info.

How well do you know team CN&CO? As a child, what did you want to become when you were older? 

A marine biologist… I love the sea and dolphins were (and maybe still are) my favourite marine animals.

What was your favorite toy or thing as a baby ​child?

It was always a soft toy. I remember this huge pink teddy bear that was double my size that my dad had bought me… I also remember an elephant with patches of colour on its feet and tummy.

Where were your born? 

I was born in Johannesburg 🙂

Any funny story or memory when you were a child?

I was quite a friendly child and I decided that the heater looked sad (cause it was red) so I decided to kiss it better. That’s how I ended up with the marks on my chin in the photo – the heater burnt me.

Any funny story or memory when you were a child? 

I once won the World Cup as Italy’s No.10, scoring a top left corner stunner in injury time. Host nation: My grandparents garden (I also happened to play the role of the opposition team that day a.k.a. Brazil)​… Imagination is a beautiful thing, you should have seen the celebration!!!

A game ranger

What was your favorite toy or thing as a baby/child?

I just wanted to play outside.

Fish Hoek Cape town

Any funny story or memory when you were a child?

I once stole my brothers zinc and hid under my parents bed and covered myself in green and pink zinc.

As a child, what did you want to become when you were older? 

A social worker

What was your favorite toy or thing as a baby/child?

I had a teddy bear from my uncle, which I named Dexer ( Don’t ask why, also dunno)

Where were your born? 

A clinic in a small village in Mpumalanga called Mmametlhake Clinic

Any funny story or memory when you were a child?

A memory –  the excitement I got when mom came home from Joburg every month.

As a child, what did you want to become when you were older? 

A lawyer like my dad when I was small. A priest, teacher or lawyer when I finished school.

What was your favorite toy or thing as a baby/child?

A stuffed monkey called Sam.

Where were your born? 

Park Lane Clinic Jhb.

Any funny story or memory when you were a child?

Lots. Buy me a drink and I’ll share a few.

As a child, what did you want to become when you were older? 

I wanted to be a mermaid or a florist

What was your favorite toy or thing as a baby?

BARBIES and my baby born doll (I’d always have both with me at all times). Oh and doggy (a stuffed toy dog I still have), I used to hold him by his neck so all his stuffing is now in his bum

Where were your born? 

At the Parklane Clinic in Joburg.

Any funny story or memory when you were a child? 

I was a bit of a bully – my best friend and I broke a child’s nose with an umbrella because they were sitting in the car in the playground that we claimed as ours.

As a child, what did you want to become when you were older?

A singer

What was your favorite toy or thing as a baby/child?

Baby blanket, I still have it.

Where were your born?

Frankfort in the Free State. 

Any funny story or memory when you were a child?

My dad came around the corner and I was busy eating the dog’s poo. He picked me up by my feet and rinsed my mouth out with the hose pipe. Then brushed my teeth about 20 times and chucked away the tooth brush. That’s why I have such strong teeth.

As a child, what did you want to become when you were older?

I think it was an architect. Nothing fancy. I think I drew something quite meticulously and my folks said I could be an architect. So that’s what I went with. I still don’t know what I want to be.

What was your favorite toy or thing as a baby/child?

I remember a Michelangelo TMNT cuddly toy that I had. I also had a small cuddly Dragon, from when I visited Wales and named him Denver.

Where were your born?

Discovery Memorial Hospital (now Discovery Hospital)- Woes Rand Baby! I actually only found this out through this questionnaire. I  thought I was born in Sandton Medic Clinic. But that was when I almost died as a baby. Different story.

Any funny story or memory when you were a child? 

When we lived in England (and hence the visit to Wales) my sister and I were fighting in the car on one of our many cultural trips we had on weekends (how naive we were to not appreciate it back then) and my old man actually kicked us out of the car and left us on the side of the road. Most parents threaten but never follow through. Not my old man!

As a child, what did you want to become when you were older? 

I was never a child… but when I was young I wanted to be a pharmacist

What was your favourite toy or thing as a baby/child?  

My teddy bear Tessie – named after the bear in the Noddy books 

Where were you born?

Durban.

Any funny story or memory when you were a child?

My mom leaning out of the car window to get a ticket from the machine and bumping the hooter with her hip – then turning around FURIOUSLY to swear at the driver behind her for being impatient…. only to realise there was no-one behind her.

As a child, what did you want to become when you were older? 

A robber, so I can see what the inside of jail looks like” no jokes! I said that to my mum.

What was your favorite toy or thing as a baby/child?

My pink blankie.

Where were your born?

Pietermaritzburg.

Any funny story or memory when you were a child?

My mum left me in a pram alone at the front door of my Grans house in JHB once and left for the airport. My gran was driving her there and half way said “well you do know what you have forgotten of course Mem”

“Whatever it is it can bloody well stay behind!”

A lot of interesting language followed that along with some wheel spinning and a missed flight!

As a child, what did you want to become when you were older? 

Astronaut, firefighter (really original…)

What was your favorite toy or thing as a baby/child?

A blue and white blanket – nothing special just loved the hell out of that thing and carried it everywhere.

Where were your born? 

Cape Town (obviously) – at 2 Military Hospital (not so obviously)

Any funny story or memory when you were a child? 

My older brother went crying to my parents one time after we had a fight and when they asked him what was wrong he said  “He bit me”. When they asked me about it I apparently replied “I was just resting my teeth on him”.

As a child, what did you want to become when you were older? 

An ambassador.

What was your favorite toy or thing as a baby/child?

A chalkboard I was gifted for my 5th birthday.

Baragwanath Hospital, Soweto.

Any funny story or memory when you were a child? 

Me wanting to be an astronaut- then realizing that I’d actually HAVE TO LIVE IN SPACE. Lol I think not.

As a child, what did you want to become when you were older? 

A member of the New York Swat team, I may still want to be. Luckily there is PS4 for that.

What was your favorite toy or thing as a baby/child?

My dudu (small white towel blanket) and my Snoopy soft toy.

Any funny story or memory when you were a child? 

Being Lebanese, my skin complexion is darker. When I was a child, I was VERY dark, especially after a beach holiday. We were on a family holiday in St Lucia, and there was a bus of Indian school children that came to the beach. I started playing with them, and  when they were leaving, the teacher started ushering me onto the bus, I proceeded as I was having so much fun, until my brother noticed me getting onto a random bus and started screaming, thinking I was getting abducted. We have a good chuckle about it today still.
