ITOO covers the 2016 Roedean u14 girls national water polo tournament

img_5051On the weekend of the 20 – 23 October 2016, Roedean School hosted the annual U14 Girls National Waterpolo Tournament sponsored by our clients ITOO Special Risks who also covered the liability for the event. The tournament is one of the largest U14 tournaments in South Africa hosting 242 players from 20 teams, representing schools from various parts of the country.

The curtain raiser for the tournament was a showcase of the development team, the Colourfield Tridents coached by Lucky Letshabo along with his team. The team is comprised of 7 to 17 year olds coming from under-resourced schools in Soweto that have been provided with swimming and water polo lessons in order to develop their skills to be confident swimmers and potential water polo players. The exhibition demonstrated the perseverance and efforts of these children and was certainly humbling moment for the tournaments participants and spectators.

The tournaments runner up was Chisipite Senior School from Zimbabwe coming in close behind the winners of this years tournament, Herschel Girl’s School Cape Town. The final was extremely competitive and demonstrated an impeccable standard of water polo that the girls are being taught by their highly dedicated and passionate coaches. Congratulatations to Herschel on a well-deserved win.

img_5068ITOO organised olympic rowers, Ursula Grobler and the silver medalist duo, Lawrence Brittian and Shaun Keeling to join the celebrations and present the awards (Best goalkeeper, defender and forward) and prizes (custom-made changing towels supplied by our friends at Dead Reckoning clothing). Ursula Grobler addressed the girls and fans with an inspiring speech on perseverance, tenacity and the importance of passion in sport.

Congratulations to all those involved on an outstanding tournament.
