Open invitation: Prospective Under 23 athletes

Prospective U23 athletes, who matriculated in 2021 will have an opportunity to join the RMB National Squad from 5th January 2022 up to and including the 134th RMB Buffalo Regatta. Athletes that have national aspirations to represent South Africa at the 2022 World U23 Rowing Championships in Varese, Italy are encouraged to email the U23 Head National coach: Thato Mokoena: thatom@rowsa.co.za via email to express their intention to join the squad.

Prospective U23 athletes, who matriculated in 2021, will need to complete the following series of ergo trials in order to gain entry to the U23 open window period (5 January – 13 February 2022).

Ergometer Assessments:
5 January 2022: 2000m max (9h00)
6 January 2022: 5000m max (9h00)

Gauteng Province
All Gauteng based athletes are expected to complete the series of ergo trials at the LC De Villiers, University of Pretoria Campus on the dates prescribed.

All other provinces
Inter- provincial athletes should complete the ergo assessments on their own or with their club and submit the data before midday on the 5th and 6th of January. Please ensure that clear photos of ergo screens are taken and dates are set correctly before assessments are commenced.

International based athletes
IBA (International based athletes) should complete the ergo assessments on their own under the guidance of their coach and submit all data before the 8th of January 2022.
