Insurance is a great industry in which to succeed

We love seeing people succeed! And if you’re going to do it, there’s no better place to do it than in the insurance industry.

Our good friend and former CN&CO team mate, Cristiana Cavalieri, has been offered a part-scholarship to go and study insurance in Italy. Cristiana starts her Master in Insurance and Risk Management (MIRM) degree at MIB Trieste School of Management in September. She is currently going through the graduate programme at one of our founding partners, ITOO, and previously spent time working at Pablo Clark Racing – also an organisation we have close ties with.

Once she has finished studying her MIRM, she hopes to get an internship with one of the companies sponsoring her degree, which include the likes of Allianz, Generali and KPMG.

It’s something of a personal journey for Cristiana, whose father, Paolo, is a well-known figure in the insurance industry – himself following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather.

“I am actually the fourth generation of Cavalieris to enter the world of insurance,” says Cristiana. “And going to study in Trieste is extra special as it’s where my grandfather built and grew his insurance career.”

The insurance industry is part of the CN&CO DNA. Many of our clients, partners and friends are involved in insurance in one way or another. It’s an industry that caters to a wide array of talents and skills. Plus it exists to help people, which we believe is a noble raison d’être.

CN&CO founder, Carel Nolte – another well-known figure in the industry – is currently in the process of starting an insurance company called Ami, which aims to turn insurance on its head in South Africa.

“We plan on offering insurance that’s accessible, easy to understand and socially conscious,” says Carel, “In doing so, we hope to become a friend to brokers, policyholders and communities. That’s why we’re called ‘Ami’ – because it means ‘friend’.”

Carel is also passionate about education and continuing professional development (CPD) in the insurance industry. He was one of the thought leaders who created the InsureTalk series of webinars at the start of the hard lockdown in 2020.

“InsureTalk has reached thousands of insurance professionals in the past two years,” he says. “The webinar series aims to educate and entertain delegates – and earn them CPD accreditation in the process. We’re extremely proud of how far it’s come.”

Another fantastic event on the insurance calendar is the annual African Insurance Exchange (AIE) conference, which this year will be delivered in a hybrid format. Five hundred people will attend at Sun City, with an infinite number of people joining virtually, on 25 and 26 July 2022.
