IISA AGM – Exciting times ahead

On Thursday, 3 May 2018, the Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) held its 51st AGM at Norton Rose Fulbright in Sandton.

CN&CO’s Allan Bader was pleased to be part of the quorum as IISA president, Daryl de Vos, got proceedings under way.

Daryl spoke about the institute going through some transformation with a few people having retired in 2017. Talking about the importance of bringing in younger talent, there will be a few positions targeted at this age group.

The African Insurance Organisation (AIO) Conference and General Assembly will be taking place in South Africa next year. The AIO event is separate from the IISA annual conference, showcasing the role that South Africa plays in the insurance industry across the continent. IISA CEO, Thokozile Mahlangu (pictured above), will be heading up the local organising committee for the AIO Conference.

After a short financial review for the 2017 period, Thokozile gave her address, which focused on the four strategic pillars the IISA will be focusing on over the next few years:

  1. Intelligent Education
  2. Influential Reputation
  3. Sustainable Membership
  4. Active Networking

The AGM was wrapped up with Daryl thanking former CEO David Harpur for his contribution to the IISA over the years.

You can keep abreast of the education opportunities at the various IISA learning centres, where numerous sessions are available.
