“I wish someone had told me” is a series of posts that feed into our inquisitive nature at CN&CO. Each week we hear from someone in our network about something interesting or surprising that’s recently happened or occurred to them – or lessons they learnt. These blogs are a way to pay it forward and form part of CN&CO’s belief that the world can be a better place – and we all have a responsibility to make it so. This week’s post is by Rikus Kok
Since I can remember everywhere we were, whether it was at home, in the car or at the Vaal river with family friends Oom Andre and Tannie Corisa Smith, Shania Twain was always playing – and it always was a party.
I know almost every song and lyric of Shania’s but never in a million years would I have believed anyone if they told me that that one day I would be seeing Shania Twain perform live in her brand new Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood on 14 December 2019 – front and centre seat nogal!
As Carel and I arrived in Las Vegas, I said that I would really love to see the Bellagio fountains. So we checked into our hotel and went straight there. I was completely blown away by this magical dream world that I had just stepped into called Las Vegas. Lights, sound – just amazing.
Watching the fountains shooting water more than 30m into the air and outdoor sound so good that you would think you are inside a theatre. I couldn’t help but think that my dream for everyone in 2020 is to reach for the stars just like the fountains were shooting for the stars.
Shania Twain has always been a bucket list item for me and December 2019 I got to tick that box.
No matter what your dreams are or the items on your bucket list, never say never #JustinBieberSong. You never know when they might just come true…
I made this short video to share one of the most amazing days in my life with you… and yes I did cry when she walked onto that stage.
