Jackie and Daniel

I wish someone had told me that love goes on…

“I wish someone had told me” is a series of posts that feed into our inquisitive nature at CN&CO. Each week we hear from someone in our network about something interesting or surprising that’s recently happened or occurred to them – or lessons they learnt. These blogs are a way to pay it forward and form part of CN&CO’s belief that the world can be a better place – and we all have a responsibility to make it so. This week’s post is by Penny.

Sadly, we lost Alfie – our gorgeous boy who had brought us much love for over a decade – just before Christmas in 2018. My whole family was devastated.

Alfir

I was convinced that I only wanted another dog if it was exactly like Alfie with his big, beautiful, black eyes. And despite the fact that my son Craig missed walking a dog around our area, we didn’t get another dog for a year.

Recently we were offered two little dogs, as the people who bought them decided that dogs were not right for their family after all.  I didn’t want two dogs I thought as I loved Alfie so much as an only dog. However, I am so glad that we decided to take both, as they just adore each other. Jackie is a real girl (calm and sweet) and Daniel a real boy (robust and chewing everything)!

I cannot believe the joy these two dogs have brought to our entire family.
Whilst we will always miss Alfie, I have realised that we all definitely have love for our new gorgeous dogs. I joke that at my age I shouldn’t get new dogs, but Carel wants me working until at least age 80 and my son Warren can also look after these two cuties, so should be ok! Have a great 2020 and enjoy all the special times with your pets.
