I wish someone had told me about Sun Exchange

We can’t open up social media without seeing something about inequality, climate change, single-use plastic, natural disasters and the list goes on.

Business and lifestyles are changing and in my opinion not changing quickly enough, from retailers using plastic alternatives to companies increasing diversity within their businesses. As I said, I don’t think it’s happening quickly enough, but sometimes we need to reflect how far we have come.

Just 10 years ago some of Oprah’s most “challenging” shows were about multi-race relationships and the taboo of being single without children at the age of 30.

I am incredibly grateful to CN&CO for always pushing diversity and challenging the current social norms. It’s obvious that things need to change.

I haven’t embraced change when it comes to investing and have always trusted my financial adviser to guide me. But recently I started investigating alternative ways of investing that would not just show good returns but could also contribute towards fighting climate change, creating jobs and contributing to equality.

I have been supporting small African farms with loans using Kiva. It gives me the opportunity to support a small business that will help support a family or even a community and the best part is I get my money back to support the next small business. I recently came across Sun Exchange and I just love what they do. Simply put, they are making it really easy to invest in renewable energy while generating a monthly income from it.

I just love the concept – invest in solar panels to support schools, hospitals and local businesses and earn a monthly return on the investment.

It works like crowdfunding at first, raising enough money to provide solar panels for school, charity or companies.

It’s a win win. Spar (for example) pays less for energy and doesn’t have to rely on Eskom. We are contributing to preventing global warming, Spar doesn’t have to fork out massive capital upfront, and we get to earn profits while positively impacting our community and environment.
