I wish someone had told me about Scuttle

“I wish someone had told me” is a series of posts that feed into our inquisitive nature at CN&CO. Each week we hear from someone in our network about something interesting or surprising that’s recently happened or occurred to them – or lessons they learnt. These blogs are a way to pay it forward and form part of CN&CO’s belief that the world can be a better place – and we all have a responsibility to make it so. This week’s post is by Blake Dyason.

Living in a lockup and go flat with a passion for adventure comes with a few challenges, Storage space being the biggest challenge.
Over the past 10 years I have slowly tested and collected outdoor gear, everything from backpacks and tents to rock climbing harness and technical gear. In 2016 I joined K-Way, South Africa’s leading outdoor brand as an ambassador, giving me the privilege to test the latest gear but not everyone has access to testing gear or can afford to buy the latest gear.

A few years ago friends invited me to sleep on Table Mountain in the MCSA Table Mountain hut where I met Jacques who had just started an exciting little business Scuttle. (Not so little any more.)

Scuttle is an online rental shop for all your outdoor needs. you can rent anything from headlamps and camping equipment to roof top tents and bike racks.

Some of the things I love about Scuttle.
– I love testing gear before I buy.
– It’s affordable especially if I don’t use the item often.
– I don’t have to worry about storing big items like cooler boxes at home.
– Smaller carbon footprint, renting and reusing instead of buying is conscious global movement to protect our planet.

If you are planning an adventure consider renting gear before buying.

SCUTTLE.
