Grooming and whiskey on a holiday

They say time is measured in weeks, months and beards.

The world of men’s grooming has taken a tremendous leap over the last couple of years. The industry has flourished, and with it hundreds of thousands of men who are making more of an effort to look good every day.

Looking good in the city

After spending a week in New York City, I was amazed by the effort guys put into their image and look. From their clothing, to their accessories, and no matter the situation (work or play).

As an avid fan of style and making a concerted effort to feel my best self each day, it was welcoming to see and learn.

Sites like ValetMag (www.valetmag.com), who on a daily basis share content and insights into the world of men’s fashion and grooming, have really helped grow this culture. They share morning routines of celebrities and icons from different industries, explore artists, foods and cities.

We now live in an age where looking good isn’t just a form of good manners, but a means to living a life in your best shape and help you tackle your goals and obstacles.

Men’s grooming in Club Med

I’m currently sitting at the Zen Oasis beach at Club Med in Punta Cana. A world class resort and paradise haven with white sands, turquoise waters and something to do at every turn.

A treat of a place where grooming and bespoke men’s treatment has arrived on its shores. Yesterday I discovered the world’s first L’Occitane Barbour Shop for men (http://clbmd.co/xfsrd7).

A shop with a range of treatments, accessories and products for men. The attention to detail is mesmerizing and a great way to stay fresh on holiday, have a cut or trim that beard.

After spending the morning at the beach and then going on a 7km run around the resort, I treated myself to Signature Cut – this included a faded cut, wash, head massage and L’Occitane Cedrat facial.

It was nothing short of amazing! The brilliant Edison (a Punta Cana local and the Barbour) was on top form and in his studio with a voice over and different lighting, worked his magic.

Once done, with a fresh faded cut and a 15-minute men’s facial that had all the scents and refreshing feeling to leave you feeling on top of the world, I joined my girlfriend for a whiskey at La Cave.

La Cave is a bespoke rum, wine and cigar bar situated around the resort and offers tastings or bottles of whiskeys, wines and champagnes around the world to enjoy over a meal or sunset. It included my favorite whiskey, Aberlour (16 year old).

This was a perfect compliment to any day spent resting and relaxing.

It also instilled new ways to stay fit and healthy, not only on holiday but in everyday working life and well-being.

Gianluca at Club Med

Gianluca brings a touch of Italian flair to everything he does. His eye for detail, superior organisational skills and rare ability to nag relentlessly (in the nicest possible way) help to keep the team on track and on target. Say good things to him about Juventus and you’ll have a friend for life.
