Good news for champagne lovers based in Gauteng!

It’s no secret that the CN&CO associates love their bubbles. We were excited to learn that the team at Great Domaines had added Colmant Cap Classique to their Gauteng portfolio. Paul Gerber joined Colmant Cap Classique in 2019 to help take it to new heights. Paul is a good friend of Carel’s and a regular feature on the calendar is to share a bottle of Colmant at the RMB Starlight Classics at Lourensford.

Right, here’s a bit more about Colmant Cap Classique and the announcement of the inclusion in Great Domaines’ Gauteng portfolio.

Upon visiting their website you are greeted with the message, “Welcome to Colmat Cap Classique & Champagne, a place dedicated to you, the bubbly lover”. It’s clear that the team behind this brand love their bubbles and over a premium service.

News flash: Great Domaines adds Colmant Cap Classique to its Gauteng portfolio.

Great Domaines imports into South Africa some of the finest champagne in the world – from the Grandes Marques Pol Roger and Lanson, to grower-producers like Vilmart & Cie, Pierre Peters, Larmandier-Bernier and Marguet.

A few years ago, in addition to our international portfolio, we made the strategic decision to add small, unique and terroir-driven South African wineries to our portfolio so that we could offer the Gauteng trade some of the best wines the Cape has to offer. Until recently, there remained a gap and indeed opportunity for Cap Classique. “In search of the perfect South African bubbles” were words from Paul Gerber that always resonated with Great Domaines. It became clear to us that Colmant Cap Classique would be the perfect match for us. After Paul joined Colmant, the opportunity to work with one of South Africa’s leading Cap Classique winemakers was not one we could walk away from.

Colmant Cap Classique was founded in 2005 by Belgian businessman, Jean-Philippe Colmant. At the time, it was the first winery in South Africa solely dedicated to the production of Cap Classique. His vision was to create classical, fresh and elegant Cap Classique and in 2019, in his quest to take Colmant to new heights, he approached ex-mathematics teacher Paul Gerber to join the team. Jean-Philippe and Paul share a vision to produce terroir-driven Cap Classique; showing the respective regions’ ripeness and character whilst retaining freshness and above all, balance.

The full range of Colmant is now available at Great Domaines.

The CN&CO team (and our partners) really do love quality champagne and wine. The team from Colmant Cap Classique were out and about at the Cape Town leg of the Lombard Insurance Roadshow last week that our Kurt Solomon was instrumental in organising.
