Getting the best out of The Best

CN&CO is delighted to be helping old and new friends at The Best Funeral Society with a staff motivation campaign. The management team at The Best has set a lofty financial target for the company to achieve by the end of June and they called CN&CO in to help drive a bit of gees and get the motivational juices flowing.

The first part of the campaign took place on Friday, 1 April in central Jozi, with a motivational chat at The Best’s head office, led by the executive team, followed by a late lunch for everyone at the nearby City Perks Café.

The message from the exec – John Turnbull, Kevin Jacques and Melonie Phillips – was clear: The staff need to work together to achieve their financial targets.

“Covid hit us hard, but we managed to get through the period without cutting salaries or retrenching any staff,” said Kevin. “That is a fantastic achievement given the circumstances. Now it’s time to pull together and put in a strong effort to reach our financial targets for the year.”

CN&CO has helped The Best to put together an interactive and engaging internal campaign that will keep the team motivated and inspired through to the end of June, which is The Best’s financial year end.

“We’ve helped to design a programme that is very outputs-driven,” said CN&CO’s Josie Dougall. “Team members will be held accountable for their deliverables. Weekly meetings with team leaders will keep them on track throughout the campaign and outstanding performers will be recognised each month.

“There will also be regular ‘culture check-ins’ with the CN&CO team so that we can help to find out – from the bottom up – how the programme is going and being embraced.”

The main target of the campaign is success.

“If we reach our financial goal we WILL get bonuses this year. We WILL be able to give increases to those who deserve it. We WILL be on track to becoming a GREAT organisation again with the resources to make this business a fun, engaging and great place to work,” said Kevin. “It starts with YOU!”
