FORA: ‘Bark in the Dark Sleepout’ with RMB

A lot of animals are prone to human insensitivity. Animals are mistreated and abandoned simply because most people miss the fact that animals too have the ability to feel emotional and physical pain. They also need love and care and this is why there are people and organisations such as Friends Of Rescued image003Animals (FORA) , a non-profit organisation that relies on donations and special funds.

FORA has  put it upon themselves to help abandoned dogs and cats located at Luipaardsvlei, Krugersdorp on the West Rand. It has a shelter which houses as many as 300 dogs and 120 cats that have been neglected.

These animals are often found terrified and alone wandering in the streets before being placed in the FORA shelter. The organisation generates income to look after the animals by way of donations and special fundraisers, as the adoption fee of R850 per dog and R750 per cat does not cover the cost of the sterilisation, vaccinations, deworming and care each animal receives.

Carolynne Waterhouse of Rand Merchant Bank (RMB), client of CN&CO, has gone the extra mile to raise money through a campaign she started, called “Bark in the Dark Sleep-out“. Carolynne and her daughter Catie volunteered to sleep on a concrete kennel with some of the FORA dogs to raise funds for the animals. The campaign is to help prevent animal abuse and to continue to find homes for the animals. Carolynne has a deep passion and love for FORA and their animals. RMB and CN&CO support the “Bark in the Dark Sleep-out” initiative and is an example of the types of partnerships we embrace: people and organisations that take it upon themselves to support good causes and make a difference.
