Dullstroom has a well-earned and deserved reputation for being one of the best little towns in South Africa. Everyone in the CN&CO team has a soft spot for the town. For me it’s the natural beauty of the region – the trout fishing is sublime! Others like the pub scene and the chilled small-town vibe that seems to drain the big-city stress as you arrive.

A few of our team are actually immortalised on the walls of a few pubs following a very successful REDfest a couple of years back … but that’s another story.

One thing we all love is the fine dining at Mrs Simpsons, and the friendship we have built over the years with owners Stephen de Meyer and Bryan Wolmarans. Through this incredible couple we have met a diverse group of amazing South Africans and had some fabulous experiences.

On Saturday 22 August, Carel and I were privileged to be part of the Epilepsy Mpumalanga fundraiser – organised by a dedicated team of volunteers, including Stephen and Bryan. The event was held at the epilepsy centre in Dullstroom with the main cause for the evening being to raise money to help fund ongoing operational costs.

Entertainment was provided (free of charge!) by the group Notes Unlimited

who took us all on a musical roller-coaster back in time with great golden oldies.

Raffle tickets were sold and the CN&CO team won a bottle of champagne and a sheep (not alive, sorry!)

Congratulations yet again to the town of Dullstroom, which truly lives the maxim of charity begins at home. With the support of everyone in the community it’s no wonder that this gem of a town will continue to hold a special place in our hearts.
