CN&CO & IISA & social media learning

CN&CO’s Carel, Gianluca and Colin facilitated a training session called #LetsDoSocial at the Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) on 15 September 2016. The session focused on extracting maximum value from social media in the insurance industry.

“The most important thing to remember is that social media is about building relationships,” said Carel. “And as we know, relationships are driven by people. You are the brands you represent, both your personal brand and your company brand. You cannot separate the two.

“I’m always very cautious when I meet someone who hides their identity on social media, or who separates themselves distinctly from the organisation they work for. It seems like those people have something to hide, which makes me not want to trust them. I am more likely to do business with people who are open about all facets of their lives – and not in a blow-by-blow way, but meaningfully and sensibly.”

Gianluca spoke about making connections with the right people, coming up with smart ideas and grabbing opportunities (and a butt or two) as often as you can. Colin gave a rundown on what makes good thought leadership and how to get maximum traction for your content via social media.

Here’s how some of the #LetsDoSocial conversation went down on Twitter:
