Checking in with a few of our previous partners

2020 has been a roller coaster year so far consisting of both challenges and opportunities. On Wednesday the 23rd of September South Africa had been in lockdown for 182 day, a full six months. As a collective we have been spending some time reflecting on past, present, and future opportunities. Timelines have been significantly compressed this year and we have seen shifts in what the future may look like.

We enjoy checking in with brands and businesses that we have worked with over the years. We have had the opportunity to meet some incredible people and if you read our regular blog series you will know that we believe people are truly at the heart of everything we do. We often share the stories and profiles of some of the most interesting people in our networks in our “The Company We Keep” series.

So, here’s a quick check in to see where a few of our past partners are in the world and what they are up to.

Marquee TV

In May of this year we partnered with Marque TV to assist them with their launch into the South African market, “Lovers of the performing arts are in for a treat as Marquee TV announces its launch in South Africa”.

Launched in 2018, Marquee TV (www.marquee.tv) is an on-demand streaming platform dedicated to global arts and culture. Serving up a world-class catalogue of contemporary and classic masterpieces, including dance, opera, music, theatre, and documentaries, Marquee TV has been designed for a growing digital audience of determined culture lovers and the arts-curious.

There’s a new streaming service in town that’s bound to appeal to lovers of Shakespeare, and the performing arts in general.

ITOO

A brand we helped launch in March of 2017 and they continue to drive innovation in the insurance world. As you land on their website you are greeted with the words “Our experts are always thinking forward”.

The team at Itoo have been hard at work expanding into Africa, read about their joint venture in Namibia, and introducing new insurance products into the market. One of these is their drone cover, drones have fast become a common phenomenon, not only as a hobby, but as tools in commercial fields, such as architectural and construction, farming and engineering. A full list of their products can be found here.

Justin Naylor, MD of ITOO also presented in our first InsureTalk conference and shared thoughts on his favourite Winston Churchill quote, “Never let a good crisis go to waste”

Bokamoso Education Trust

Since inception in 2008 the Bokamoso Education Trust has impacted the lives of children and their families by providing them with the necessary financial support for an excellent education, as well as support through mentorship for each child.

“We believe that an excellent holistic education is a vital element in providing each child with the necessary grounding to make consistently good decisions for their well-being and ultimately grow into a responsible citizen who can positively contribute to the development of South Africa. We believe that on our own it may be difficult to make a difference but every little bit helps and through a community of donors we can be a catalyst for great change” says the Bokamoso team.

Makeup Revolution

In September of 2018 we have the opportunity to help the Makeup Revolution team launch their brand in South Africa.

“The Makeup Revolution is here! After much anticipation, the famous London based brand has landed on South African shores and makeup lovers are already going CRAZY!”

In the words of Makeup Revolution’s Louise Lewis, “Makeup Revolution is a brand that is against elitism and exclusivity.  We are real to the everyone and anyone who wants to wear makeup.  We take into consideration your needs, your wants and we believe in your voice”.

Since launch the brand has continued to grow and their fast beauty model has seen them gain market share globally. Check out the brand on Instagram to stay up to date with all the latest product announcements.

Ndlovu Youth Choir

We began working with the Ndlovu Youth Choir in October of 2018, helping them to establish their digital media presence and providing PR support. Their journey to the finals of the 2019 America’s Got Talent finals was a highlight for us in 2019. However their story and impact that they are having on communities in South Africa is remarkable.

Growing up, you are encouraged to dream and think about what you want to be when you grow up. We wonder how many of the choristers at the Ndlovu Youth Choir thought that one day they would be standing on the stage of one of, if not the biggest, talent showcases in the world…

They have been busy over the last few months with virtual performances, helping to spread awareness about COVID-19 and partook in the #JerusalemaDanceChallenge along with thousands of other South African’s on Heritage Day.
