Cairo to Cape Town by bicycle, raising funds for Qhubeka!

Earlier this year, we covered the start of Steph Barker’s journey as she set out on her challenge to raise funds for Qhubeka. Covering roughly 12 000 km by bicycle is not everyone’s idea of an adventure but cycling and Qhubeka are two things that are very meaningful to the Barker family.

The work Qhubeka does is phenomenal. The organisation is literally using bicycles to change lives. Founded back in 2005, Qhubeka has supplied 75 000 bicycles to people through a number of programmes. That’s a lot of lives that have been changed.

Steph has traversed the African content and is set to arrive in Cape Town on Saturday 5 May, 118 days after her bike ride began on 7 January. Her goal, outside of achieving the physical challenges of riding this crazy distance, is to raise R100 000 for Qhubeka. You can help her achieve this, by visiting her blog page and making a donation!

We are sure that Steph will have plenty of stories and memories to share with us. If you want to know more about how she broke her journey up, read about it on her blog.

We look forward to “officially” welcoming Steph home this weekend. In the meantime let’s give her energy for the last leg of her journey and help her reach her donation goal.
