The Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) has education at its core, offering key learning for the industry and CPD hours. At home in its offices in Hyde Park, the IISA team is already rolling out and encouraging attendance to a number of training events in the ITOO Premium Learning Centre.

Re-insurance practice with Mike Brown

A half-day session that covers:

• Understanding reinsurance structures and the issue of proportional versus non-proportional cover
• Allocating risks and losses to a quota share and surplus treaty
• How to calculate how much catastrophe cover to purchase
• Allocating losses throughout various layers of an excess of loss programme and how to calculate reinstatement premiums
• Introduction to understanding slips and salient points of a reinsurance agreement
• Introduction to reinsurance pricing methodology and what is negotiable
