It’s no secret that we have a passion for insurance, with many of our clients and partners forming part of this awesome industry. 2016 has already seen its share of industry highlights and events, and our team has been involved and adding value with our clients in a number of these through social media, communications, planning, and participation. Here’s a recap of some of the events:

FIA and COVER Broker Summit (April 2016)FIA Summit 2016 STIBS2016

The Financial Intermediaries Association (FIA) and Cover Magazine hosted the inaugural Short-Term Insurance Broking Summit at the Sandton Convention Centre on 18 April 2016. The theme of the summit was “Broker-Innovator-Disruptor”, highlighting the changing landscape that brokers and underwriting managers find themselves in.

CN&CO was there assisting Lombard Partners with its stand, tweeting and helping to drive the intermediaries market. Our Carel Nolte was also the MC for the summit.

The annual SAUMA Conference (May 2016)

The annual South African Underwriting Managers Association (SAUMA) Conference took place on Friday 6 May and provided a diverse mix of speakers to address the attendees. The event was kicked off with Tersia Davey introducing the various sponsors of the event, in particular our associate Lombard Partnerships. ITOO sponsored the drinks at the conference (no small task for over 400 delegates) while CN&CO provided social media support for the event. On the topic of social media, have a look at the value of it and why you should care.

IISA website and social media

If you haven’t heard (or seen), the Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) has a new online home. CN&CO (content and strategy) and Global Choices (design and development) partnered to put together the new website for the IISA. The site provides a detailed insurance events calendar, a blog, as well as key information and news from the IISA. We have also been assisting the IISA with its Twitter communications, helping to cover monthly industry events, news and happenings.

Andre Brooks

2016 Insurance Apprentice

The winner of the 2016 Insurance Apprentice was announced in April, with Price Forbes’s Andre Brooks taking the award. CN&CO was proud to sponsor the first episode of the second season and help The Insurance Apprentice team with  Twitter management – spreading the news and experiences along the way.

IIG Spinathon

In case you missed all the coverage around the 24-hour spinathon, the IIG hosted a rather social and vibey event in April as part of it fundraising programme for the year. It was a prime example of the industry coming out to support a wide variety of charities while having a great time doing so. The CN&CO team rode with Lombard Partnerships, Purple Group, St Stithians, Hollard and our own midnight slot for the Pink Drive. The saying “take what you do seriously, not yourself” was well and truly proven at that event. If you need proof, just look at some of the ridiculous costumes that appeared on the night!

Launch of the ITOO Premium Learning Centre

The ITOO Premium Learning Centre was officially opened at the IISA’s offices in Hyde Park and provides a platform for  events and educational seminars to take place.
