AIE 2021 going ahead… and there’s no reason not to attend!

It’s all systems go for the 2021 African Insurance Exchange conference, which takes place on 2 and 3 August at Sun City — with hybrid events in Durban and Cape Town, plus the opportunity to attend the conference via live stream. The conference theme is Reimagined to Reconnect.

A webinar took place on 10 March that covered the details of the conference. The session was hosted by CN&CO’s Carel Nolte, IISA CEO Thokozile Mahlangu, Sun City’s Nombuso Buthelezi and SAIA CE Viviene Pearson.

Carel and Thokozile discussed the logistics of hosting a conference at Sun City in light of Covid restrictions, with satellite events in Durban and Cape Town. Nombuso assured delegates that Covid screenings will be carried out at all venues and strict protocols will be enforced.

Viviene spoke about the increased access that the new conference format offers to delegates, especially those who are not able to make it to Sun City – including international delegates.

Conference attendees can look forward to some relevant and forward-looking themes, including how Covid has changed things (for the better in many cases); resilience; insurance 2050; ethical and effective leadership especially in this time of crisis; how to deal with disruption; what lessons we have learnt; what we can do better; regulatory and governance environment; cyber threats; technological change; uncertainty around economic growth.

The organising committee welcomes any suggestions for speakers or additional themes.

What’s great, Thokozile pointed out, is that the speakers can contribute from wherever they are, so we’re not restricted by geography. There will be speakers from across Africa, talking on many topics that fall within and outside of the insurance industry.
