Ndlovu Youth Choir in Hollywood at AGT

African energy on the Hollywood Boulevard

It’s been six weeks since the Ndlovu Youth Choir left for Los Angeles to perform in the live rounds of America’s Got Talent. Their journey has inspired South African’s and created a powerful sense of unity. The infectious energy that they have shared in Hollywood has showed the world the power of embracing possibilities.

Hollywood is an iconic symbol in the world of entertainment – it is the home of the Oscars and it is also the home of the Dolby Thearte that will host the finale of season 14 of America’s Got Talent this week. In amongst the stars that have been recognised and historic performances, the Ndlovu Youth Choir too are making history. They are the first African act to make it to the final of the world’s biggest talent showcase.

In the semi-final their rendition of Higher Love was a performance that took them to a whole new level. We can’t wait to see what they have lined up for the finale!

The choir deliver a toe-tapping and uniquely South African musical performance, that is combined with mesmerising choreography. The choir is part of the Ndlovu Care Group ( www.ndlovucaregroup.co.za ) and is based in the Moutse village in South Africa’s Limpopo province. The care group turned 25 this year and their vision is “Creating healthy, responsible and self-sustaining communities in rural South Africa”.

Since its inception in 2009, the choir has profoundly affected the lives of the choristers and demonstrates the potential of any human being to achieve excellence no matter their background, education or place of birth.  From its humble beginnings as an after-school activity the choir has evolved into a truly outstanding professional ensemble. The choir aims to ensure that a child from a disadvantaged community can enjoy the same level of musical tuition, care and opportunities as a child from a more affluent society. The choir creates a place of comfort and care – nurturing values such as self-discipline, self-confidence, tolerance, respect and leadership.

While, South Africa’s aren’t able to vote for their favourite act we can still share our love with the choir. The support that they have received so far has been incredible – one last push to give them a little bit of extra motivation for the final, let’s show the world the power of South Africa’s unity.

They are definitely making their infectious energy famous. Let’s join together and unite the nation with the energy and pride the choir are creating. Share a message of encouragement with the choir by tagging them on social media @NdlovuYouthChoir.
