Etana Ferrari

A fast Ferrari start to the year with Pablo Clark racing!

CN&CO have long been admirers of the PCR team. With their passion and smarts around all things racing, what’s not to admire and be inspired by?!

Many of the CN&CO team have been lucky enough to travel with PCR to Maranello, the home of Ferrari in Italy, and have made wonderful memories – much needed during these Covid19 travel ban times. We thought you’d like to read the latest news from PCR as contained in their January newsletter. And from us – massive congratulations to Paolo on reaching this 40 year milestone with your PCR family – a magnificent achievement.

“Ciao Tutti

Benvenuti a 2021!

We hope that you had a restful festive season with family and friends and are ready to get the show on the road!

This time last year, no one knew what was to come. The Coronavirus Pandemic kicked off a rather bleak 2020. As we move into 2021, may we continue to show responsibility in C-19 safety rules and regulations.

It is important to approach this new year with a refreshed mind, fresh intentions and a positive attitude.

2021 is the 40-year milestone for Pablo Clark Racing. PCR started as a racing team in 1981, with Paolo Cavalieri racing in the Group One Touring Car National series. At the end of 1981, Paolo raced as an official BMW team driver in his first Kyalami 9-hour, finishing first in Class.

It was in 1982 that Paolo was the winner of the International 2-hour race, racing in a BMW Group One.

1983 to 1984 Pablo Clark completed races in a Formula Ford and Group One semi-works drive with Alfa Romeo.

In 2003, Pablo Clark Racing returned to motor racing in Historic Racing with a Ferrari 275 GTB.

To date, Pablo Clark Racing participates in both GT and Historic and Classic racing; becoming the first official Ferrari dealer team in 2006 on behalf of Johannesburg Ferrari Dealer Rosso Sport Auto. The cars raced at the time were the team’s classic 250 GTM and Rosso’s state of the art F430 Challenge.

In 2019, Pablo Clark moved to the Kyalami Business Park from Wynberg and now operates in the very same building once owned by Rosso Sport Auto. This move brings us closer to South Africa’s natural motor racing home, the scene of many Ferrari and BMW victories and has proven to be a major development for the Pablo Clark Team.

In terms of contemporary GT Racing, it was thanks to the phenomenal work of our racing technicians that Pablo Clark participated in the 2019 Kyalami 9-hour GT Intercontinental Challenge, competing in a Ferrari 458 Italia GT3. With the help of the Official Ferrari Racing Team KESSEL of Switzerland, PCR finished first in the National Class – the first SA car home.

Over the years, our involvement in Historic and Classic Racing has seen Pablo Clark competing in the Goodwood Festival and Revival driving David Piper’s Ferrari P2. In addition Pablo Clark races two BMW 745 SA Championship-winning cars (1985/1986) formerly driven by BMW racing legend Tony Viana. In the hands of Jaki Scheckter and Sarel van der Merwe, the team’s Ford Galaxie is a Championship winner and regular front runner in the Legends of the 9-Hour series.

The above is a testament to Pablo Clark’s diversity, dedication, passion and success. We are certain that there are many more races to win and great automotive events to attend, both in the near future and in the long-term. For now, our main focus is 2021.

We have a lot to look forward to in terms of Motorsport events and in the Automotive Industry in general.
