Ndlovu Youth Choir Anthem Project 2019

1 million rand for the Anthem Project winners

Friday the 24th of May marked the conclusion of the Anthem Project. The initiative was started to celebrate our national anthem, following it being named the best in the world by The Economist. One of the project’s goals was to “unite the nation through song”, a powerful message as we celebrate the inauguration of President Cyril Ramaphosa today.

The Anthem Project received over 140 submissions. The project team described how “each video captured what makes this country so great – its people.”  They also thanked all South Africans for their involvement, “whether you submitted a video yourself, shared the spirit on social media or simply casted a vote, thank you for playing your part in uniting our nation through song.”

Congratulations all the finalists!

We are extremely proud of partner, the Ndlovu Youth Choir who came third and whose video had over one million views across different platforms. They hail from a small town in Limpopo and are making waves all over the world. They are currently in Europe gearing up for a series of live performances and on the 28th of May the premier of the next season of America’s Got Talent launches, we can’t wait to see how the choir did in their audition.

You can watch the Ndlovu Youth Choir’s version of Nkosi Sikelel’iAfrika here.
